Yorkshire's Independent Restaurant Guide

Masterchef Champion Cooks for Jessie

If you want to be one of the first to taste some of Sara Danesin Medio’s fabulous Italian cooking as seen on Masterchef, you will need to book a table at York’s Dean Court on 29th June when Sara will be hosting a charity dinner ahead of the opening of her dining club at her home in York in July.

If you’re a Masterchef fan you’ll remember how earlier this year Sara made it to the finals of the competition in what was probably the toughest Masterchef ever.

Sara will be cooking her own Italian inspired menu alongside DCH head chef Tony North all in aid of Jessie’s Fund, a York based charity founded by the parents of Jessie George, a pupil at Park Grove School who was only nine when she was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour. Jessie’s parents set up a fund to finance a trip to the USA for treatment but Jessie died in May 1994 before she could go.

Jessie’s parents Lesley Schatzberger and Alan George, both professional  classical musicians, decided to use the money to fund projects for severely ill and disabled children through music. The fund now pays for music therapists in 43 children’s hospices and gives children with profound learning difficulties access to music through the Soundtracks programme.

There are just 35 places for the dinner at Dean Court and all the money raised will go to Jessie’s Fund, so hurry up and book your table for a good dinner and a good cause.
