Yorkshire's Independent Restaurant Guide

York Spring Food Festival

Lincolnshire PoacherIt’s the York Spring Food Festival this weekend, lst and 2nd June, a  taster for the big event  20-29 September.

There will be a producer market in Parliament Street. My pick of the stalls will be: Bluebird Bakery and/or Food For Thought, aka the Haxby Baker, both making fabulous sourdough loaves Bracken Hill Fine Foods, for proper preserves and jams full of fruit.

Epicure’s Larder for cheeses and one of the producers on the Yorkshire Food Finder trails. I’ll definitely take a look at the Lincolnshire Poacher stall  and their fine cheeses. Hole House Farm will be my choice for meat and Round Green Farm for venison. Then I’ll probably finish off with a plate of Malaysian street food from Jennie Cook

There are demonstrations on both days starting on Saturday at 11am with Rob Porter from the Green Room Scarborough and at 1pm it’s our mate Stephanie Moon.

Don’t forget to take a look at Newgate Market too, just off Parliament Street where you will find two good fish stalls, Cross of York and Trevor from Staithes and some good veg. stalls.
