Yorkshire's Independent Restaurant Guide

Friday Curry Club

AmesOur lovely friend Amy is a proper foodist. For years she’s been a Chocolate Sensory Panelist at Nestle in York. Tough job, someone’s gotta do it. She’s always cooked curry for her family, and now you can feel the benefit. Text your order in during the week and collect from her house in Bishopthorpe on Friday from 4pm. Word on the street it’s the best take out in the city which is going some, given the number of them. She chooses her ingredients very carefully; all her meat comes from Richardsons of Woodthorpe and she cooks up a cracking chicken palak, Sri Lankan lamb and beef kofka. Her veggie curries are vegan – Bunny Chow is a nod to her South African homeland and particularly good. And nothing to do with rabbits, obv. Choose from 7 rice dishes and half a dozen sides (the Gujerati cauliflower and pea curry is stupendous) Forget Chicken Tikka Masala swimming in oil, Friday Curries are cooked using only a tiny splash of cholesterol-free rice bran oil – no ghee for Amy! If you live reasonably near Bishy, text her on 07974 155618 and become a fully paid-up member of the club.
