Two Yorkshire food festivals are coming up soon : the Dales Festival of Food and Drink in Leyburn runs over the weekend of 30th April complete with with brass bands, morris dancers and food and farming events as part of the mix. The pre-publicity lists loads of stalls including the fabulous Stamfrey Farm clotted cream, Bracken Hill’s preserves, the fabulous Yee Kwan ice cream (of which more later). As well as cookery demonstrations, ‘Speakers Corner’ promises three high profile speakers: Author Gervase Phinn, ex MP Chris Mullin and the creator of Reggie Perrin, David Nobbs.
Malton Food Festival follows on 21st and 22nd May. With 90 food and drink stalls in Malton’s Market Place and a roll call of all the regions chefs. The Malton Food Festival now in its tenth year is establishing itself as one of the best food festivals in the region.
Andrew Pern of the Star Inn, Stephanie Moon of Rudding Park and Tim Bilton of the Butchers Arms will all be there currently featured on the Great British Menu.
Also on stage the well-known Rosemary Shrager, Richard Walton Allen, recently of Harvey Nichols and now following other ventures (yes we’ll keep you update on his movements too). James Mackenzie of the Pipe and Glass, Rob Green from Green’s in Whitby, Robert Ramsden, development chef for the wholesaler Delifresh and Elaine Lemm, author of the Great Book of Yorkshire Pudding. It’s a great line up, so be there.
