We told you it was our book of the year, and so we’re delighted to see that Niki Segnit’s book The Flavour Thesaurus has taken the top prize at the prestigious Andre Simon Food and Drink Awards. Of course we would call it prestigious wouldn’t we – that’s because my book Good Food in Yorkshire was shortlisted back in 1995 – but actually the criteria for selection is that books ‘must contain original research, be educational, pleasurable to read and well produced’, which means they select some brilliant food and wine books. So forget those celebrity chef books, put together by someone else and get into some seriously good food and wine writing.
