No sooner had we launched our new website than the whole restaurant world changed with the C-19 virus forcing a national restaurant shutdown.
It’s devastating for everyone in the hospitality industry but especially so for the sort of independents we review here. When we are back to normal things will have changed utterly. Some restaurants will close never to reopen, others will open but no doubt in a very different way.
Amanda Cohen who owns Dirt Candy in New York City wrote this article for the New York Times asking if restaurants like hers would become extinct. It is a prescient warning for what the future may hold for restaurateurs and for customers post-virus.
While we wait for things to get back to normal we will use the Squidbeak blog to tell you about food news around the county, restaurants and produce deliveries and anything that takes our fancy during these trying times. If you have anything you would like us to post here, do drop us a line.
