Toast House, Ilkley

A simple idea, beautifully executed. Toast House in Ilkley is a laid back café with a rustic interior filled with vintage kitchen gear, mismatched furniture, some cheery fairy lights and a silver toast rack collection.

It’s run by Lisa Jenkins and Natasha Bryers whose clever idea is to serve everything on toast. That’s not any old toast but toast made from good bread by the lovely people at Bondgate Bakery in Otley and that’s not all, there are  crumpets, brioche, bagels – anything that will carry a topping. Choose from jam, marmite, peanut butter, cream cheese and smoked salmon, baked beans, marinated red peppers, things with tomatoes, mushrooms, avocado, pesto, all sorts plus fabulous cakes:  Blueberry and lime drizzle, courgette, chocolate, meringues – there’s a constant parade of lovelies.
