Yorkshire's Independent Restaurant Guide

Robinson’s, York

Another delightful independent to add to York’s burgeoning café scene. This one on Bishopthorpe Road is a bustling little place with tables inside and on the pavement outside. The day begins at 8am with breakfasty things like berry and porridge, eggs Benedict and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.

It all runs seamlessly into lunch with Parma ham hash and poached egg – two eggs on my visit – a dreamy, creamy, truffled mushroom and poached egg on sourdough toast or avocado and bacon on sourdough. There are pancakes (with berries and maple syrup) and reliable cakes, sandwiches, tea and coffee. It’s a great little find. Go find it yourself.
