Olive Branch, Hebden Bridge

This tiny Turkish restaurant by the traffic lights in Hebden is a bit of a hidden gem; its exterior is so modest it’s easy to walk by, but you’d be missing out. They do two courses for a tenner most nights (except Saturday); last week I had falafel (light, fragrant, home made)followed by lamb kebab – again, made from scratch, succulent and tender, served with a bulgar wheat salad, hummous and yogurt. A glass of wine takes the bill to £12.50. Wholesome, honest food at a price that makes the recession feel like history.
