Yorkshire's Independent Restaurant Guide

Jino’s Thai Cafe, Leeds

It’s no great shakes outside and it’s pretty basic inside but Jinos Thai Cafe is a gem and for our money knocks spots off some of the city centre Thais which have spent a fortune on ‘ethnic’ décor and seem to pour all their best efforts into extracting a fortune back from you. OK, a shopping parade on the Otley Road is never going to carry off the heady fun of eating from a Bangkok street market but their red curries are terrific and all sorts of combos of spicy fish cake, marinated mushrooms, pork stir fry with Thai basil and boiled rice will still leave you change from a tenner.

It’s unlicensed so bring your own with no corkage charge. Husband and wife team Paul and Malinee Brown have a takeaway next door and another branch in Guiseley.
