Coffee Station, Hebden Bridge
We love a good railway cafe. Here is a friendly, tiny caff on the platform at the fabulous Victorian Hebden Bridge station. Lisa Crebbin and Antoinette Hunt run the show with charm and smiles; score a serious espresso from a hissing Gaggia, exceptional homemade cakes, a belting sausage sandwich, newspapers to read, witty greetings card to buy. All in all it’s a great place to start (or finish) your journey, and a million miles away from the ubiquitous cabins found at most stations.
It’s an award winner too; the cafe is the first-ever winner of a prestigious national award. Rail users and cafe customers across Britain were invited to vote on Railfuture’s website for their favourite independent station cafe, and The Coffee Station beat the competition nationwide.
