Yorkshire's Independent Restaurant Guide

Bettys Cafe Tea Room, Northallerton, Northallerton

The most northerly outpost of the chain of six Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms set in a handsome Georgian building on Northallerton’s High Street. Like all the branches it houses both shop and tea room and this one is distinguished by its lovely atrium and courtyard garden. Choose from the menu, or the trolley or go the whole hog with afternoon tea from a tiered cake stand with sandwiches, scones, jam, cream and gorgeous little cakes. The tea, of course, is the real deal – choose your favourite single estate rarity brought in a silver tea pot with milk or lemon.

Before you leave stock up with Bettys bespoke biscuits and chocolates, fat rascals or curd tartlets or choose from dozens of different breads.
