Two weeks ago Jamie Oliver appealed to us to help save three speciality cheeses: Kirkham’s Lancashire, Stichelton and Baron Bigod. He asked us to buy these cheeses from the cheesemakers who were left with too much stock following the closure of restaurants who are their major clients.
Mandy’s Yorkshire Post column on Saturday also called for us to consider buying artisan cheeses
Now, through this and other call-outs, the back-log of cheeses have been shifted and three small-scale cheesemakers have been saved.
But there are still other British cheesemakers at risk and Jamie is appealing to us to help save three other farmhouse cheeses: Ogleshield, Pitchfork Cheddar and Colston Basset Blue Stilton.
You can purchase a box of these three cheeses from Neal’s Yard Dairy for £29.50.
Just because we like to support local businesses we would also encourage purchasing these cheeses from Courtyard Dairy in Settle.
