We love Erics. His eponymous, award-winning restaurant in the leafy Huddersfield 'burbs goes from strength to strength - he's been at the coal face since 2010, and there's been no slippage in the quality of his offer; it's pretty straighforward, the food is just fab. Eric's expanded his empire, and just a few doors down is this rather cool burger joint. He doesn't do things by halves, so it's no surprise that the decor is bespoke; the leather banquettes are the exact colour of the American mustard dispensers on the tables, Lichtenstein posters hang on the walls and there's a groovy soundtrack (think Hendrix and Velvet Underground.)
Long before it was fashionable, Eric sourced his ingredients carefully and locally. His beef is 35-day aged, grass-fed Aberdeen Angus from Saddleworth butcher Jack Wood, and the ribs and chicken come from Bolster Moor Farm in Golcar. There are lamb, fish and veggie burgers too - they're half a foot high and packed with flavour - and when was the last time you lifted a burger lid and found pomegranate seeds? Chicken skin and thyme salt fries are perfect, Kimchi slaw full of crunch and onion rings are the size of Coleen Rooney's hoop earrings.
Everything has been Paxmanned – the menu, the paper on the tray your food comes on, even the wipes. And you get a cute little yellow Pax badge as you leave. Oh and did we mention it’s a take-out too? If it's a lively night out with fabulous 'fast' food you're after, head for Paxburger. It's as much fun as you can have with your clothes on.
