This delightful Georgian stone built er, former apple store is one of Noelle Thornton's charming self-catering Yorkshire properties which include the stunning Barn and cosy Coach House. Tucked away at the back of the Hall and with its own private walled garden, the Apple Store is full of surprises.
Airy and spacious, the farmhouse kitchen's got every gismo you need - and then some. The cosy sitting room with wood stove, flag floors and super-comfy sofas is the perfect room to kick back with a glass of something after a yomp on the moors.
Upstairs, a mighty, lofted double bedroom with oak beams and an astonishing en suite - think stylish wooden box on stilts with a free-standing bath overlooking the glorious garden! Talk about sexy .. a sweet twin room adjoins - this is the perfect cottage for a family break.
Noelle's sophisticated design capability is evident, from the original Mark Hearld paintings to the georgeous bed linen and fresh flowers everywhere. A welcome hamper includes home made cake and a bottle of wine. The whole self-catering shebang is very special.
How Much: From 700 per week, short breaks from 490
Kids's Stuff: Children of all ages welcome (there's tons of outside space for them to run wild - there's even a trampoline)
Well Placed: You're surrounded by wonderful countryside with walks from the door and the North Yorks Moors to explore. Why not take the steam train to Goathland, the kids will love the Potter connections and you might have a Brief Encounter.
Good Grub: Lots of good places to eat in Pickering; the White Swan is old-school elegance, Feast next door a great coffee stop, and our chum Duncan from The Granary tells us the cakes and coffee at at Cafe Cocoa on Smiddy Hill are well worth a drop-in and we like Middleton Tea Parlour just next door for a cracking afternoon tea.
